FAQ
Orders
How do I place an order?
To place an order on Movie.it, browse the Archive and select the artwork you would like to purchase.
Choose the material, size and other print specifications from the options available on the product page, then add your selection to the cart.
Click the cart icon in the top-right corner and complete your purchase by entering the required shipping and payment details.
Can I cancel or change an order after it has been confirmed?
If you would like to cancel or change an order, please contact our Customer Service team as soon as possible at servizio.clienti@movie.it, quoting your order number.
Except for a specific variant that may be marked Ready & Reduced, each print is produced only after the order has been placed, according to the configuration selected by the customer, and production may begin shortly afterwards.
If production has not yet started, we will check whether the requested change or cancellation is still possible.
How can I check the status of my order?
Once your purchase has been completed, you will receive an order confirmation email.
You may also receive an update when your print enters production.
As soon as your order is handed over to the courier, you will receive a tracking link by email so that you can follow the shipment through to delivery.
Is the image I see on the website exactly what I will receive?
The image shown on the website is a preview intended for online viewing.
Before printing, the image undergoes its final restoration and digital preparation, and the file is adapted to the configuration selected by the customer.
The final print is therefore optimised for the chosen size and material while preserving the character and integrity of the original artwork.
Why is the image restored before printing?
Many of the images in our archive come from vintage movie posters, locandine and fotobuste that may show folds, tears, stains, colour shifts and other signs of age.
Digital restoration allows us to address these imperfections while preserving the characteristics of the original artwork and preparing the image for the best possible print result.
The final stage of restoration is completed after the order is placed, according to the print that is to be produced.
Can I request a size or specification that is not offered on the website?
Yes. If you would like a different size, material, finish or other specification, please contact us.
We will help you identify the most suitable solution and, once the specifications have been agreed, the print will be produced accordingly.
Can I order a movie poster that I cannot find in the catalogue?
Please contact us with the title of the film and, if possible, the image you are looking for.
Our archive is constantly evolving, and we may have material that has not yet been published on the website or may be able to locate the artwork you are looking for, subject to the relevant rights.
What should I do if I entered incorrect information when placing my order?
If you have entered an incorrect address, email address, telephone number or other information, please contact our Customer Service team <servizio.clienti@movie.it as soon as possible.
We will do our best to correct the details before the order is processed or shipped. If the error is reported after the parcel has already been handed over to the courier, any additional costs arising from the change or a failed delivery may be charged to the customer.
Vintage poster or new hight-quality print?
What is meant by an “original movie poster”?
An “original movie poster” generally refers to a copy printed at the time of a film’s theatrical release for promotional use in cinemas.
It is therefore not the original painted artwork created by the artist, but one of the copies printed from the final artwork prepared for the film’s advertising campaign.
How valuable are these “originals”?
The collectible value of a vintage poster depends on many factors, including rarity, film title, artist, artwork, format, condition and market demand.
Of the enormous quantities of movie advertising material printed over the decades, only a relatively small proportion has significant collectible value today.
What is the difference between a Movie.it print and a vintage print?
Vintage movie posters were printed on papers and using techniques intended primarily for advertising and display in cinemas and public spaces. Even when well preserved, they may inevitably show signs of age.
Movie.it prints, by contrast, are individually produced from digitally restored images using carefully selected materials and modern high-resolution printing technology.
The collectible value of a vintage original and the quality of a newly produced, restored print therefore represent two different qualities and should not be confused.
What else does the Movie.it project offer?
An exceptionally wide range of possibilities: each print is produced after the order is placed, based on the configuration selected by the customer, combining artworks, sizes, materials and finishes.
For specific requirements, it is also possible to agree on specifications other than those offered on the website.
All this is supported by an archive containing tens of thousands of artworks, organised to make it easy to find the film, image or artist you are looking for.
Digital Restoration and Print Quality
Why do some images on the website appear in low resolution?
The images published online are optimised for web viewing and, as our archive contains tens of thousands of artworks, they are not the same files used for production.
In addition, the final stage of restoration is completed after the order is placed, before the print file is prepared.
Who carries out the digital restoration of the images?
The restoration is carried out by our specialist technicians, who work digitally on each image to remove or reduce folds, tears, stains, colour alterations and other signs of age while preserving the character of the original artwork.
What level of print quality do you guarantee after digital restoration?
Each image is prepared to achieve the best possible result for the size and material selected by the customer.
We use carefully selected materials and high-resolution printing technology, paying particular attention to detail and colour rendering.
Before shipping, every print is also sent to our offices and undergoes a quality check.
If you believe the product you have received has a printing or production issue, please contact our Customer Service team at servizio.clienti@movie.it, quoting your order number and, where useful, attaching a few photographs.
Why is a print marked “Ready & Reduced” cheaper and delivered more quickly?
Because that specific print has already been produced and is available in stock.
It therefore does not require the preparation and production stages carried out after the order for our other configurations and can be shipped more quickly at a reduced price.
What does “Ready & Reduced” mean?
The label Ready & Reduced applies only to one specific paper print, in the size indicated, that has already been produced and is available in stock.
The same product page may also offer other paper sizes, canvas, stretched canvas or Dibond options. These configurations are not pre-produced and are made only after the order is placed, according to the specifications selected by the customer.

Shipping
How long does delivery take?
For prints produced after the order is placed, the estimated production and delivery time is generally around 10–12 business days, unless otherwise stated on the product page or in exceptional circumstances.
Prints marked Ready & Reduced, as they have already been produced, can usually be shipped more quickly.
How are the prints packaged for shipping?
Each print is carefully protected using a rigid tube or reinforced packaging, depending on its size and material.
The packaging is selected to protect the product during transit and help ensure that it reaches you in the best possible condition.
How can I track my shipment?
As soon as your order is handed over to the courier, you will receive an email with the information needed to track the shipment.
Returns
Can I return a print if I change my mind?
It depends on the print purchased.
The 14-day right of withdrawal applies to the specific print expressly identified at the time of purchase as Ready & Reduced, since it has already been produced and is available in stock.
All other Movie.it prints are individually produced after the order is placed, based on the configuration selected by the customer, including the final preparation and restoration of the image and the creation of the corresponding print file.
For these prints, Article 59(1)(c) of the Italian Consumer Code applies to goods made to the consumer’s specifications or clearly personalised.
Naturally, all customer rights remain unaffected in the event of a defective, non-conforming, incorrect or transit-damaged product.
For further information, please see our General Terms and Conditions of Sale.
How can I return a print marked “Ready & Reduced”?
If you purchased a print marked Ready & Reduced and wish to exercise your right of withdrawal, you may do so within 14 days of delivery in accordance with the procedures set out in our General Terms and Conditions of Sale.
For assistance, please contact our Customer Service team at servizio.clienti@movie.it, quoting your order number.
Image rights
How can I request permission to use an image?
You can request information about image rights directly from the relevant image page using the dedicated link, or contact us at info@movie.it. Please identify the image you are interested in and describe the intended use as precisely as possible.
Does purchasing a print also give me the right to use the image?
No.
Purchasing a print allows you to use the physical product you have bought, but does not transfer any rights to reproduce, publish, distribute, communicate to the public or commercially exploit the image
Any use requiring specific authorisation must be covered by a separate licence.
When do I need an image licence?
A licence may be required when an image is reproduced or used in books, magazines, websites, advertising, packaging, audiovisual productions, exhibitions or installations, commercial products or other editorial, promotional or professional projects.
Whether a licence can be granted depends on the rights held by Movie.it in relation to the specific image.
If you are unsure, please contact us with details of the image and your intended use.
What happens if I use an image without obtaining the necessary rights?
Where authorisation from the rights holder is required, reproducing or using an image without the necessary licence may constitute an infringement of copyright or other applicable rights.

How does the discount of up to 30% work when I order more than one item?

The highest-priced item is charged at full price, while the applicable discount is automatically applied to all subsequent items.
The discount is shown in your cart before payment.
Is the discount applied automatically to my cart?
