1830: Stopping in a ruined chapel deep in the woods, Dr. Chomas and his assistant Gorobec discover a sarcophagus containing the mummified remains of the witch Asa, executed two centuries earlier. She, accidentally coming into contact with Chomas's blood, comes back to life and resumes her preying on the family of her great-niece Katia, who lives in a nearby castle with her father, brother, and an old servant.
